Diamonds are cut in Amsterdam for hundreds of years. Especially before the second world war, Amsterdam was besides Antwerp the most important centre for diamond cutting and trade in Europe. After the war the diamond exchange closed but there are still a lot of diamond companies in Amsterdam. You can still see how the diamonds are cut and there are still a lot of companies that sell diamonds. Below you see a picture of diamond cutters at work:

The bigger companies offer tours in there buildings, explain how diamonds are cut, how you can detect the quality of the diamonds and sometimes they show special diamonds in secured rooms to you.
We can arrange a tour in a diamond factory for you or can include it in a tour through Amsterdam on which visit a couple of other attractions and museums as well.
