AMSTERDAM, IN THE MIDDLE OF NORTHWESTERN EUROPE

Amsterdam is situated in North-Western Europe. It is the capital of The Netherlands. West of it, on the other side of the North Sea lays Britain. South of The Netherlands lays the small country of Belgium. South of That France. East of The Netherlands lays Germany. So Amsterdam is quiet near London (approximately 400 kilometres/200 miles), Paris (500 kilometres/250 miles) and the belgium cities of Brussels, Antwerp and Bruges (beteen 200 and 300 kilometres/100 to 150 miles). Kopenhagen, the capital of Denmark is approximately 500 kilometres/250 miles from Amsterdam. Prague is also a very interesting place. You can travel to this city by plane, train or bus from Amsterdam. It is around 500 kilometres/250 miles from Amsterdam.

It is a good idea to combine a visit of Amsterdam with visits of other places in Western Europe. London and Paris are easy to reach from Amsterdam. By plane countries like Spain and Italy can be reached in 2 to 3 hours. Especially Italy with places like Rome, Florence, Venice and Naples and Spain with Barcelona and Madrid are very worth visiting.
